Toronto Fashion Week: Amanda Lew Kee

This year’s Toronto LG Fashion Week featured Amanda Lew Kee for the second year in a row. She is one of the few Ryerson grads to have successfully launched her ready-to-wear women’s collection down the runway at the 2010 LGFW only a few months after graduation. Amanda originally began her brand with a jewelry line, expanding to nappa leather garments which have further evolved to the signature pieces presented today.

Now, the young designer lives in New York, has worked for the True Blood cast, Shenae Grimes and Keri Hilson, to name a few, and has been named an up and coming designer by publications such as Flare, Nylon, Teen Vogue, and Toronto Star.

Amanda’s S/S 2012 collection made its debut at this year’s show, shocking the audience with its lack of black leather that we’ve grown to expect. Instead, models were draped in flowy fabrics and fresh prints. Amanda herself packed away her iconic blue lipstick this year, revealing herself to be a multifaceted and maturing designer. Her new collection can be found here.
