Spring and Summer 2012 Fashion Week

Spring and Summer 2012 Fashion Week saw waistlines go up and hemlines go down.  High waisted slouchy trousers and the continuation of the maxi trend dominated the runway.  Layering was also brought to life throwing on jackets over cardigans and blouses.  Many of the looks can easily be duplicated, just pair a slouchy knit with a short patterned mini skirt, or try colour blocking with sorbet colours like mandarin orange, lilac, pale yellow, or light blue.  Here are some of my favourite looks for next season:

Thakoon
Making the adjustment to spring and summer easier by warming up some autumn tones.  Love that dark accented lapel.

Burberry
Redesigning the trench coat once again and how covetable is this?  It may have been harder to pull off the edgy studded and spiked trench coat but this gorgeous piece is totally wearable.

Prada
A silk floral bodysuit is given new dimension with the addition of a structured jacket in the same pattern.

Rag and Bone
Similar to the Prada look, Rag and Bone turns a sexy bralette (it's knit, KNIT!) into something a little more street appropriate by throwing on an asymmetrical maxi skirt with a long knit cardigan and a short tweed blazer.  Spring and summer fashion doesn't mean you have to put away your knits and jackets!

Proenza Schouler
Mixing checkered with a caribbean-esque print.  An amazing bustier is made more demure with a high waisted and knee length skirt.  Showing some more skin but also covering some more up- take a little and give a little.

Phillip Lim
Colourblocking with pastel colours!  Crop tops are more versatile by pairing them with a longer top underneath, adding an extra band of colour and giving new meaning to layering.

I know the summer's over and fall's begun but I'm already excited to dress for next season- bring it on!
